What is Pinkwashing?
Pinkwashing describes how Israel promotes itself as progressive and LGBT+ friendly as a strategy to try to distract from and cover up its occupation and genocide of Palestinians. Eurovision — the ultimate celebration of camp and flamboyance — presents a perfect opportunity for Israel to Pinkwash its image.
Why boycott Eurovision?
Russia was banned from Eurovision after they invaded Ukraine, but Israel is still allowed to compete, despite killing more than 30,000 Gazans and injuring more than 70,000 in the last 6 months alone. All this is possible because Europe supplies and funds the Israeli military.
How to boycott
Don’t be complicit in genocide! Palestinians are calling on us to pressure performers and TV companies to withdraw from Eurovision 2024. They ask us to cancel all Eurovision watching parties and replace them with events about Palestine. We won’t let Eurovision happen as usual while Israel attempts to annihilate Gaza’s entire population.
